Here we go again. DeviantArt has recently increased take-downs of art and entire accounts without warning or explanation. Earlier this year they updated their policies regarding sexual themes and erotic and fetish content. Since DA doesn’t provide any explanations for their removal of art or suspension of accounts, creators are left to speculate as to what content violated which policy and how.
I have seen multiple hypotheses for why DA is increasing the removals lately. There’s always the general pressure from advertisers to remove adult content that is part of the ongoing Pornocalypse. Some people have noted that DA seems to be pushing Deviants to make their content subscriber-only so that DA can take their cut, and if you’re not charging for your content DA doesn’t really want you around. One speculation is that DA is training their AI statistical-generation algorithm on user content and vore somehow confounds the algorithm.
Last week, Karbo (a longtime Deviant and a pillar of the vore community) had his entire DA account deleted. Many creators who produce Size or Vore content are taking this as an indication that DA has determined that those fetishes are in violation of their policies, and they are migrating to different platforms.
You should always check a site’s policies before uploading any content, although be warned that such policies are always subject to change with little or no notice. Remember, if the platform is free to use, you’re not the customer, you’re the product.
Eka’s Portal, of course, will always be safe for vore content. Twitter still allows most NFSW content, primarily because they’re not trying to do any content moderation at all, but with Musk you can never rely on anything for very long. I’ve seen people considering Itaku, Newgrounds, Inkblot, and Pixiv as alternative platforms. I’ve made lurker accounts on all four sites just to keep current on my favorite artists.
Understandably, many people are trying to make sure their followers can find them on their new account(s). Linktree is one option for people trying to centralize and update their contact information online. I continue to maintain my Where To Find Everyone page that I first set up for Tumblwintr in December 2018. It hasn’t been updated much lately, only when some people fled Twitter after Musk took over. If you want me to add or update your listing, feel free to contact me.
